WiFi Technology

Abstract :
Wi-Fi is a Wireless technology that uses the radio frequency to transmit data through air. With the rise of Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) , technology comes the rise of the hotspot -public access Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) that allow anyone with a Wi-Fi capable notebook or PDA to connect to the Internet or a corporate intranet in airports, hotels, coffee shops, or even campgrounds and fast food restaurants.

Wi-Fi hotspots are expected to have an important role in future provisioning of “anywhere, anytime” connectivity. They are quickly being deployed at locations that tend to attract nomadic users, such as cafes, airports, hotels, and conference centers
This paper contributes an alternative billing architecture using virtual prepaid tokens (VPTs) and experimentally evaluates its performance. Users buy VPTs at the point and time of access, using a third-party online payment server. Therefore, such an account is more flexible than is a conventional pay-per-use account, which can be used only to purchase access from a specific provider or set of providers.

What Are Biosensors?
A Biosensor is a device that is made up of a bioreceptor and a trans-ducer and is used to convert a biological response into an electrical signal.
This device enables one to measure the target analyte without using reagents and also to determine the concentration of substances and other parameters of biological interest even where they do not utilise a biological system directly.
This device is normally used in glucose monitoring in diabetes patients, detection of pesticides and river water contaminants and Detection of toxic metabolites such as mycotoxins among others.

Virtual Reality

    


Abstract :
Simply put, VR is a computerized simulation of natural or imaginary reality. Often the user of VR is fully or partially immersed in the environment. Full immersion refers to someone using a machine to shield herself from the real world. Partial immersion happens when a person can manipulate a VR environment but isn't tucked or locked away in a machine. However, virtual reality doesn't necessarily have to be "full immersion" to be considered a true VR simulation. Games like Second Life on the PC and control devices like the Nintendo Wii

Telepresence

    


Abstract :
Telepresence refers to a set of technologies which allow a person to feel as if they were present, to give the appearance that they were present, or to have an effect, at a location other than their true location.Telepresence requires that the senses of the user, or users, are provided with such stimuli as to give the feeling of being in that other location. Additionally, the user(s) may be given the ability to affect the remote location. In this case, the user's position, movements, actions, voice, etc. may be sensed, transmitted and duplicated in the remote location o bring about this effect. Therefore information may be travelling in both directions between the user and the remote location.

LyndsayWilliams of Microsoft Research's Cambridge UK lab is the inventor of the Smartquill, a pen that can remember the words that it is used to write, and then transform them into computer text . The idea that "it would be neat to put all of a handheld-PDA type computer in a pen," came to the inventor in her sleep. “It’s the pen for the new millennium,” she says. Encouraged by Nigel Ballard, a leading consultant to the mobile computer industry, Williams took her prototype to the British Telecommunications Research Lab, where she was promptly hired and given money and
institutional support for her project. The prototype, called SmartQuill, has been developed by world-leading research laboratories run by BT (formerly British Telecom) at Martlesham, eastern England. It is claimed to be the biggest revolution in handwriting since the invention of
the pen.
